Intro to Major Scales
Goal
Learn the construction of a Major scale and play your first C Major scale.
A scale is a sequence of notes that sound "right" together. The Major scale is the most common and sounds "Happy".
Every Major scale follows a specific pattern of Whole steps (W) and Half steps (H).
Steps Defined
**Half Step (H):** The very next key (black or white). **Whole Step (W):** Two half steps (skip one key).
Start on any note (e.g., C).
Move: W - W - H - W - W - W - H.
You just built a Major Scale!
The C Major Scale
Start on C.
Play only white keys from C to the next C.
Notes: C - D - E - F - G - A - B - C.
Notice how there are no black keys between E-F and B-C? Those are the Half Steps!
